Aligned with Education Standards

The Adventures of Farmer Nick and Plant was created with the mindfulness and integration of the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards), along with supporting common core standards such as; writing, reading, and math. Activities are developed to support a growth mindset, and improve fine motor skills in children. All curriculum was co-created with experienced educational consultants.

Experiment from Anywhere

Whether your Plant Explorer is in school, at home, or even in the car they will have the opportunity and ability to do one of the many different activities. As a blended learning experience, activities have been developed with busy kids and parents in mind, so that you can do them anytime, anywhere.

Lifetime Access to Materials

All Plant Explorers (and their adults!) enjoy lifetime access to these FREE episodes once they’ve signed up. If you choose to purchase the accompanying workbook (which is not necessary to view and/or access the videos), you’ll also enjoy lifetime access to the workbook, both digitally and available to print.

Introduce Your Child to the Magic of Gardening

Kid: I’m bored! There’s nothing to dooooooo.

Adult: Go outside!

Kid: What do I do outside?

Parent: I don’t know…use your imagination! That’s what I did when I was a kid.

Kid (walks outside, stares helplessly around the yard, kicks a couple stones around to prove they tried, promptly returns inside): There’s nothing to do out there.

Parent: Ughhhh, fine. Go watch a show.

If this scenario sounds familiar to you, then I have great news.

Kids who learn about the magic of growing plants love spending time outside.

This is especially true when they get to be part of the process and learn how to garden and grow plants, flowers, and even food, themselves.

As a plant coach, urban gardner, and landscape designer (heck, I even had a show on Netflix called Instant Dream Home and I’m the author of Plant Coach: The Beginner’s Guide To Caring for Plants and the Planet), I hear from a lot of parents, grandparents, and caregivers who wish they knew how to teach their kids the fundamentals of creating their own garden.

As a parent or caregiver, you want your kids to have positive childhood experiences. As for me, I LOVE teaching the younger generation about the joys of growing indoors and outdoors… and it got me thinking…wouldn’t it be great if there was a course just for kids, teaching them the basics of how plants work and how to grow them?

The first call was to my best friend Plant and they agreed to help immediately. My next call was to a child education specialist, because if I’m gonna do this, I gotta do it right. Together we created The Adventures of Farmer Nick and Plant!

This 5-episode video series is a fun and engaging blended learning experience for kids, while speaking to every type of learning style – best of all, these videos are entirely FREE. If you’d like to enhance the experience and take the plant learning to the next level, there is a companion workbook with even more plant activities for purchase.

Gardening is such a great way to get kids excited about spending time outdoors because it’s rewarding. It proves to kids that, with a little work (and of course, a little help from an adult), they can create something beautiful and even edible all on their own! Activities are designed to encourage a growth mindset (not just plant growth!), and will help children improve their fine motor skills.

No matter your own level of plant expertise—from complete newbie to seasoned expert—this course will give you and your child (or children) everything you need to start your own plant journey and learn all about the miracle of how plants grow.

With a little help from my friend Plant, we’re going to teach you and your soon-to-be Plant Explorer all about plants— from soil and sun, to seeds and water.
